Beynon- PORT SIMPSON,- Dec. 23 Grace United Church was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Wednesday afternoon last when Miss Vera Marion MacKay daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joshua MacKay, became the bride of Victor Edward Bsynon, son of i the latp Mr. ami Mrs R. The bride, given in marriage by her uncle, Joseph Wright, looked very pretty in a floor lfngth dress of heavy white silk crepe trimmed with gold thread. She wore white gloves which matched the dress. She had a" lore; train and halo type veil with embroidered corners. A gold I necklace was the only ornament. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations mixed with maidenhair fern. The matron of honor, Mrs. Henry Helln, wore a floor length dress of pink crepe and a pink hat to match. The six brides maids wore floor length dresses which were very pretty. The sis ter of the bride. Miss Nlta Mac Kay, was dressed in a baby blue taffeta evening dress. William Kelly attended the groom and was groomsman. The Port Simpson concert band was In attendance with their full uniforms. The paraded up to the church with the bride and grocm and from the chuf h dwn to the residence of Henry' IHelin where the bride and groom I waited till all We wedding guests were in the hall. Following the ceremony a wedding banquet was served at the Y.P.E.A. Hail for 300 guests. Speeches . were given by guests wishing the bride and groom happiness and success. Selections Land weddings marches were played by the band and a lovely .assortment of wedding presents was on display. The evenlwt was snent in successful program. He was as sisted by Mrs. Hubble. Later in the evenlwt basts containing candy, apples and' oranges were given to each child. These haa been prepared at the home of Miss Hills with the assistance of Miss Riley. Poulsen's Cafe was the scene of gay festivity when Mr. and Mrs. C. Poulsen invited the staff and their families to a turkey dinner Christmas Eve. Before the dinner was served, N. Barry and iJ. Zezchuk took several pictures. Mr. and Mrs. Poulsen were tne recipients of a silver cake plate and sliver butter dish from the staff while they in turn each re ceived a chicken. The gathering consisted of Mr. and Mrs. C. Poulsen, Helen Chapman, Mr. and Mrs. J. Welter, Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Aueer. Auger, Mr. Mr. and and Mrs. Mrs. P. r. De passed off very quietly and the three-day week-end holiday gave business people a fine opportun ity to rest up after the busy holiday rush of shopping. All the merchants report a good business within the confines of their ability to obtain Christmas goods. . The weather over the holiday period was ideal, with bright, sunny, zero weather. Skating and hockey at the lo cal skating rink was enjoyed by the young people. A great many Smithers people .who have been absent from home were able to get home for the holidays. The local churches all enjoyed excellent Christmas services with fine music on Sunday evening and these were all well attended. Altogether, and as well as could too expected with all the distrac tions of war, the spirit of Christ-was time was enjoyed by all. the Prcvost Orchestra of Metla-kntla. assisted bv Auckland and dancing.
