The situation in China is an unpleasant feature of the present overall war picture. In their effort to consolidate their, ill-gotten territorial gains on the Asiatic mainland rather than to essay further adventures in conquest and to prevent the Allies from establishing in eastern China bases for air attack upon the Nipponese home islands, the Japanese are now close to splitting China in half. Meanwhile, the Chinese, already so many years under the physical torture of a cruel war of aggression, continue to suffer and valiantly fight on, notwithstanding the difficulty in getting adequate aid to them. That aid, however, will eventually be delivered and the brave nation will in due course know its liberation, possibly not so long after Europe is freed and it becomes possible to turn more powerful forces of freedom to her rescue. We may not be fully appreciative of the brunt the great nation of the Orient with her teeming millions has borne in a war that has been going on so much longer than that with which we have been burdened. Even here, the war in the western Pacific seems somewhat vague and strange to us. CFPR Radio Dial 1240 Kilocycles (Subject to Change) MONDAY PM. 4:00 Sound off 4:15 O. I.
