Finnigan Expires in Home SMITH ERS, Sept. 15 Sml- thers lost one of its old time and well respected citizens Wednesday when it was discovered that Wm. J. Finnigan had collapsed and died very suddenly in his home near the Smithcrs fair grounds. He had been seen around his place during the morning but in the afternoon when a neighbor called at his home he was found dead on the floor. When war was declared in 1914 Mr. Finnigan and his son walked from their farms at Francois Lake to Hazelton, as soon as they heard the news, to Join the Canadian Army. They joined the 143rd Battalion and went overseas. Later Mr. Finnl gan was transferred to the 2nd C.M.R.'s and served In France. He had been an active member of the Canadian Leg n at Sml-thers ever since the branch was organized. He was also an active Mason in Omineca Lodge at Smithers.
