DAILY EDITION Thursday. February 24, 1944 Delinquent Parents . . . New York City is plowing new ground with special classes for "delinquent parents." This delves at the problem of badly behaved children nearer its roots than most methods do. A woman widely known for her successful work with "problem" children declared recently that there w.ere no delinquent children but only delinquent parents. Her view coincides with that of nearly all workers in this field. The Chinese have always held parents sible for the misbehavior of children. Chinese-Amer-'ican children appearing in New York City courts average only two m ten years. This new program which the New Precinct Committee for the Physical York ISth and Moral Welfare of Children has inaugurated is surely built oiba sound basis. Seems like it always works out this wav: watch the face of the clock and you'll never be more than one of the hands. What Will He Come Home To? . . . Will our boys return to a land of freedom and opportunity where a man may be rewarded according to his own initiative, his industry and ability or will they find themselves hampered by a combination of strange new 'isms and political ideas? Will they come back to a land where a man's courage and ambition can transform poverty into comfort and wealth or will they find that our standards of living are being forced down to a com-1 . .mon level : Will they come back to a land where anyone, rich or poor, may climb to great positions of honor and influence? Will they come back to a land ;where government is the servant of the people and not the master? Will they come back to a Canada where freedom of opportunity provides the greatest happiness for the greatest number of its people where the standard of living is the highest in the world where anyone can get an education if he wants to where anyone can own property through thrift and a willingness to work where a man is free to work for others, to to start his own business to worship and talk and read and do as his conscience dictates as r long as he stays within the laws that he has helped to make where invention and ingenuity still pay off and the burning desire to see his 'children better off than he is, can still be satisfied. -1 That is the true Canada it is up to us to keep it for the day when our boys come home. Where there's always uniform opinion, you'll find that part of the crowd isn't thinking. All Hands Show the Way to the Variety Store For we specialize in winter comfort.
