Lay February 2, io 7ie Bus Is Late Again ! I.V raining you're cold and wet and you've lwen wait-five ten fifteen minutes. You're appointment won't 1. pt on time Jill because the bus is late again! ! And then it did come along. And it was crowded jammed, v hi wished your way on board stepped on people's toes thev Aem-A on yours. Somebody pushed an ellov in your ribs an umbrella prodded the small of your back a man s hat. sodden with rain water, (iripiea tiown your necKJ You're not a little peeved! You say to yourself and perhaps those around you "Why can't we get better service? Perhaps it would Ihj better if someone e!;c ran the buses in thir city? ' Perhaps it would be. We don t know 1 Hut we do know that y? problem of being late and the inconvenience of overloading ire 'jeyond control. New buses are difficult to obtain. Road conditions have vrrec!;ed all equipment we have. There is one sometimes two not infrequently, all three buses in the garage for repairs. Often we are behind schedule because patrons didn't have hear fare ready. Sometimes the passenger who gets off at the f'.rst f'.on will sit at the rear of the crowded bus. Shoppers with nirrt'-a riding at times of peak loads delay' us. Others ride the hu? at bu.y times when they do not have to do so. Too many it .; :.i will set the driver behind. AM our drivers, too, are working under a nervous and physi-J 4rain. Trip after trip, day after day, they must stand the ..:-:!t!it? of the bus rolling over the roads of Prince Rupert. '.l mes. too, impatient patrons blame the driver for ome-sz fhaf is beyond his control. The driver's life is not always pleasant. Rut he is sticking s 10I1, doing his best. V uld you under these conditions? lU"i us give letter service. Observe these simple rules. Cut ;r cit and hang them where you can read them every day. 1 Don't ride the bus unless necessary. L Shoppers will find the 9:30 morning trip the least crowded and the stores not so crowded. Do your shopping then. I If you get off at the first stop sit handy to the door. I. Have jour fare ready. Keep a dime in your pocket always handy. j. Don't take bulky parcels on the bus, 6. Don't try to crowd into the bus ahead of the next person. Keep hr line--and take. ymrr turn.
