From Burns Lake the books go by car, ferry, boat and horseback, south to Francois Lake and Ootsa Lake on the edge of Tweedsmuir Park and north to the Babine Like country. McBrlde, which Is the distributing point for the eastern end of the C.N.R. line in British Columbia serves a very scattered area. Box 274 GOV'T PLAN NOT DISCRIMINATORY The Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce, at Its meeting last night, decided to take no action in connection with a resolution emanating from the Prince George Board of Trade which would have protested against a scheme of the provincial government on the ground that It was discriminatory against ex-service men from provinces other than British Columbia taking up land here. G. R. S. Blackaby, on behalf of a committee which had been delegated to go Into the matter, expressed the opinion that the government's plan was merely one of bonuslng British Columbia returned men by giving them title to land for which others would have to pay. The plan could hardly be described as being discriminatory against returned men from other provinces. The board accepted the committee's suggestion that no action be taken In endorsing the Prince George protest. Jacquard Invented automatic pattern weaving in about 1800. Its spacious danclne floor. modern lunch room, cozy lounge and fireplace, quaint hobby room and Its cheerful music room com pare mast favorably with the best Vancouver. Seattle. The picture Is declared to be remark ably life-like and rich in human understanding. Frank Mcllugh, Rise Stevens and Gene Lockhart also have Important parts. The story Is the simple saga of a young priest dispatched to a small parish to take charge of activities and establish it on a sound financial basis. Blng, as Father "Chuck" O'Malley. finds It difficult at first to pit any of his measures Into practice. Rather, he poses as assistant and unobtrusively Injects his methods without drawing the suspicion of the lovable resident Father. Self-effacing, Blng takes orders, cajoles his senior, bows to the older man's whims but still manages to organize such an unheard-of 'thing as a boys' choir, settle a j lover's quarrel, placate the bank president who holds the parlsii mortgage and sell a song to raise l money for a new building. Compassionate scenes lend a warmth and tenderness to the production. The Incidents might have happened In one's own community. And for enactment of these scenes, the Robcri Mitchell boys' choir Is on hand to Join their voices with Blng's and Rise Stevens' rendering the Immortal "Ave Marie."
