NEEDED HERE Chief subject of discussion at a . meeting this week of the women's sub-committee of the consumer branch of the Wartime Prices and Trade Board Was the shortage of children's shoes and underwear in Prince Rupert. Indifferent qualfly was bad enough, .It was felt, but Insufficient supply was deplorable. A motion was passed asking the Wartime Prices and Trade Board to bring pressure to bear upon the proper authorities with a view to obtaining a greater supply of these necessary articles for Prince Rupert. The possibility of having a ceiling price on fresh vegetables was also discussed and P. H. Linzey, local representative of the Wartime Prices and Trade Board, gave assurance that the matter was being looked into. In correspondence which was read at the meeting members were warned that they must not relax in their efforts to prevent Inflation during the transition period from war to peace. There were many ur gent problems to be faced and it was- pointed out that the worst inflation due to the last war had occurred 18 months after the armistice had been signed. This must .not be allowed to occur again. As the decontrol period was approached there might be additional inflationary pressures. The people must be prepared to accept proper de-control measures. Meanwhile purchasing should be confined to essential current requirements with no buying except of articles that were absolutely needed. Mrs. N1. E. Arnold, who has been acting as chairman of the committee, asked to be relieved of her duties and was replaced by Mrs. Andrew Thompson. Those present were Aid. N. E. Arnold, representing the city council; Mrs. Stewart Donaldson, Prince Rupert Parent-Teachers' Association; Mrs. G. V. Hanley and Mrs. John Brem-ner, Woman's Auxiliary, Canadian Legion; Mrs. "A. S.
