More and more are we hearing today advocacy of the viewpoint that the way of living exemplified by Christianity although possibly not exclusively by Christianity will have to be the keynpte attitude of 11 I i. - 1- 1;..J ... i- m. pie as before are today dismissing the Golden Rule as mere Sunday School talk exclusively for the use of young children. We don't subscribe to the general oninion that cheerfulness and good nature tends to lengthen the individual life span. We have observed that souipusses die rarely and tardily. ThejGyro Club is correct in taking the stand thjjt the civic centre itself is the first objective and this would be always kept in mind when considering any other, project lhat may be subsidiary to that civic centre. It would be derelict, the Gyro Club rightfully feels, to take the fund that has been raised for the j civic centre and sink it into a swimming pool with- i out regard to the obligation which is implied in the i deal now closed whereby the Y.M.C.A. war services ' building will be taken over after the war. It would j be better to have no swimming pool at all than be unable to handle the financing of the civic centre building itself when the time comes. No doubt the central committee will agree with the policy as laid down in the Gyro resolution and govern itself Shed a tear for the girls. Here it is Leap Year and no men to chase except those who are "either top young or too old." Juvenile Delinquency . . . The commissioner of British Columbia police, T. W. S. Parsons, who, incidently makes special reference to Prince Rupert, says that the primary cure for juvenile delinquency rests in the home. We merely repeat our own views as expressed on more than one occasion in agreeing with the commissioner. Too often, as we have said before, parents are inclined to blame the community for existing conditions existing when they themselves are remiss in their own parental responsibilities. Whether or not Commissioner Parsons was jus tified in pointing to Prince Rupert as an especial example 'of juvenile delinquency conditions may be questioned. We may not be any paragon of perfection but we do not believe we are a Sodom. In some respect it may be better to give than to receive, but one can win more friends by judiciously asking favors than by bestowing them. , j Dibb Printing Company OFFICE SUPPLIES PRINTING BOOKBINDING STATIONERY HI II Til DAY AND WATER MAN'S E V E It Y I) A Y FOUNTAIN CARD S PENS Bcsncr Block, 3rd Street Phone 234 WIVES OF GENERALS ONE CAREER IS PLENTY MaJ.-Gen.
