INTESTATE TAKE NOTICE that bv Order of His Honor Judge Fisher, Local Judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, I was on the 20th day of July, AD. 1044, appointed Administrator of' the Estate of John Donald McDonald, who died on or about the 17th day of May, 1944. All persons Indebted to the eald estate are required to pay the amount of their Indebtedness to me forthwith and all persons having claims against the said Estate are required to file them with me properly verified on or before the 31st dsy of August, 1944. falling which distribution will be made having regard only to such claims of which I shall have been notified. DATED at Prince Rupert. B.C., this 20th day of July, A D. 1944. NORMAN A. WATT, Official Administrator, Prince Rupert, B O. ON RETIRED LIST PHILADELPHIA The Phil-lies have two of the game's smartest pitchers on the retired list. They are General Manager Herb Pennock who hurled 22 complete seasons and Manager Fred Fltzslmmons who won 16 and lost two' in 1940. Waterfront Whiffs Spring Salmon Run Best Since 1925 22 Cents a Pound, Dressed 70-Pounder Caught on Skeena While no outstanding catches were landed during the spring salmon season just closed, Skeena river fishermen consider it the best season since the huge runs stopped about 1925. However, catches were generally better than in recent years, and with prices at 22 cents a pound for dressed fish, even small catches were profitable General opinion was that the springs were a bit bigger than usual. At least three of outstanding size were taken durlnt, the season. Even bigger than the publicized 66-pounder caught by Henry Reld of Port Esslngton was a red spring landed by O. Ness of Sunnyside. This monster weighed out at 70 pounds. Nelson Brew of Haysport caught a 62 Vi pound spring. Sockeye fishing on the Skeena continues so good that many of the Naas River fishermen have deserted the northern river to get In on a good thing. The average last week was 250 fish pe boat. Gardiner Canal had a two weeks run of sockeye. The fish caught there averaged about two pounds heavier than those on the Skeena, and brought about a dollar a fish. Sockeye caught on the Skeena averaged In tht. neighborhood of 75 cents a fish. Humpback, or pink salmon have begun to run on the Skeena and last week's average was about 200 to the boat. Because pilchard fishing on the west coast of Vancouver Isl and is so poor, Vancouver fishermen are taking a holiday. Sev eral big seiners and tenders have headed for Vancouver to wait for the fish to appear. They claim the holiday will be Justified because It is likely that there will be no lay up between the dfc layed pilchard season and the herring season which follows. The canned sockeye pack is District 2 for the week ending July 22 totalled 99,380 cases, of whloh 63.673 cases were packed In canneries along the Naas ana Skfena rivers. Total sockeye pack for the coast was 107,491 cases. The Naas and Skeena canner ies packed 1344 cases of spring salmon, 8,252 cases of pinks. 4,771 cases of chums, and 3,961 cases of coho. Total pack, all types, for the coast was 144,048 cases. LEAGUE STANDINGS IN SOFTBALL -A" Softball League Teams W. L. P. Barrett 11 1 22 Port Edward 9 2 18 9th A.
