that
Sperry
Phillips
of
the
Department
of
Agriculture
at
Victoria
had
been
killed
that
day
when
he
came
in
contact
with
high
tension
wires
blown
down
In
the
gale
that
hit
Victoria
on
Sunday.
From
the
news
report
he
had
been
i
driving
on
the
highway
south
of
Duncan
when
he
came
to
a
tree
which
had
blown
down
across
the
highway
and
apparently
whUp
investigating
the
situation
he
received
a
shock
(if
electricity
which
killed
him
instantly.
Mr.
Phillips
was
district
agriculturist
at
Smithers
for
several
years-
and
was
well
known
and
very
popular
throughout
the
Bulklfcy
Valley.
He
visited
here
about
a
month
ago
in
the
course
of
his
duties
and
renewed
acquaintance
of
many
old
friends.
