Last night In the Navy Drill Hall before an audience of service people, which filled the place to capacity and was tremendously enthusiastic in the expression of Jts appreciation, they presented a variety program which ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous. There will be a repeat performance tonight at the same place. It was almost two hours of as snappy and well sustained entertainment as has ever 'been Ttifre were lhany colorful and skilful features in a program which was to a large extent of comedy nature although there were some numbers that might have graced the best of classical stages. Under the administration of Lieut. W. C. Spear of Chicago, who losl his right arm at Falalse with the Sherbrooke Fusiliers, the "Tin Hats" party consists of 22 men including the three clever "girl" impersonators) which was organized three-and-a-half years ago from combat units overseas and has established' Itself, as was amply demonstrated In die show here last night, as one of the snappiest and best knit service shows In the world. The party, after the torpedo- Ine. was reorganized and was ready to go to France when it was decided to send it home to Canada to show the people at home a fine example of the type of entertainment the men over seas are getting. However so popular has been the demand from the active forces and so limited the time that the show can spend In Canada that only service personnel are toeing given the opportunity to see It a mat ter which has bean of the great est disappointment to the civil ian public. After playing principal con centratlon centres of forces across Canada from Toronto westward, the "Tin Hats came here from Vancouver and will return there tomorrow night en route to Calgary. They expect to be heading back overseas attain in the near future, The show revolves around Ser eeant Wallle Brenan. of Winni peg, star comedian, who Indeed has a versatile repertoire of stunts which culminates In the "Yankee Doodle Dandy" finale where he might easily be mis MEMBER ABC. A Boy's Courageous Deed . . . A Prince Rupert boy, from all accounts, made a real hero of himself at Terrace last week when he undoubtedly saved the life of one small child from a blazing home and valiantly attempted to rescue a second who unfortunately perished. The lad was 14-year-old Norman Gullikson who carried two -year -old Judith Krumm, her clothes aflame, taken for the celebrated screen star Jimmv Caeney. That accomplished, he endeavoured to again enter the pyre in the vain attempt to extricate 18-month Violet Wagner whom he knew to be still within. Classical atmosphere Is given the program with the fine voices of Corp. Joe Rocks of Edmonton, operatic tenor, and Private Frank Elliott, Guelph, Qnt, who has an excellent baritone. The nroaram Is replete with various types of ensemble num bers and is held together wjin a smart seven-piece orchestra conducted by Corp. Glen Morley of Vancouver. Morley, a cellist oi real fine talent, contributes one of the top novelties of the en tire program in his dramatic musical depiction of an early levening air raid on London, viv idly portraying the howl of the sirens, the droning of planes, the srreech of bombs, the rattle oi machine guns and the pounding nf anti-aircraft fire. He is aiaea by orchestral and lighting effects as well as his cwn acting. Shortly before the closing number. Col. C. C. Ferrie, area commandant, appeared on the stage to express, appreciation oi the 'Tin Hats" visit and acknowledge the great work they had done in entertainment of the forces overseas. He regretted that facilities were such that the show could not have been enjoyed more extensively. He also thanked Commander M.
