Units of the Air Force, the Army and the Boy Scouts paraded to the ball park to take part in a special thanksgiving service. Practically all places of business were closed for the day and a large crowd was present. The day was the brightest and wannest so far this year. The speakers stood on a raised platform decorated with large flags. The service was opened by Harry King. Prayers by Rev. R. Hills and scripture; readings by Rev. Mr. Graham followed. Several hymns were sung, Mr. Barr being the piano accompanist. The main .address was given by Rev. Thomas Col- ell and the service was brought to a close by Emil Haugland, the nayor. In the afternoon a program of mildren's sports was held and over $30 given in prizes. The committee in charge of sports consisted of R. Beecher, C. Mlch-lel, B. West and B. Barr. Two V-E dances were held in the evening, one In the Oddfel lows' and the other In the Orange Hall. Record crowds were present everywhere and included people from Remo, Usk and other places near at hand.
