BRUNSDON IS MOVED SOUTH Salvation Attny War Services Supervises Transferred To Victoria Major E. A. Brunsdon, supervisor of the Salvation Army War Services Hostel lri Prince Rupert for nearly four and a half years, was Informed by telephone last night from Victoria that he is being transferred to the provincial capital. His successor here will be Major West. Major Brunsdon will fill In Victoria a similar position to that he held here. He Is due In the southern city next week. The new supervisor will arrive here next week. When Major Brunsdon first came to Prince Rupert it was eight months before ine Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and the Salvation Army servicemen's hostel consisted of 19 beds. He did not before full -time supervisor until November of 1942 but, soon after, alterations were made, greatly enlarging the hostel, and many changes have taken place since then. Now there are 150 beds, two canteens and regular entertainments are held. One of the more notable of these Improvements was in the canteen which In recent months was redecorated and repainted. The canteen, reached Its peak In popularity on V-J Day when 1,000 servicemen were served. Major Brunsdon will be ac companied by Mrs. Brunsdon and their two children.
