The Paris agreement for the re-establishment of the international status of Tangier is the -first joint diplomatic act of the major Allies in the post-war era, apart from their relations with enemy countries. 'BOX 1294 CITY BRIEF FOR OTTAWA Delegation Getting Ready For Departure This Week While city business and la bor men are canvassing Prince Rupert for funds to send delegates from the Chamber of Com merce and the shipyard work ers "organizations to Ottawa to present briefs to the govern ment in the hope of maintaining high standard of Industrial activity here, City Clerk H. D. Thaln is preparing a brief for the city which will be nresented by Mayor H. M. Daggett. W. M. Watts, representine the Chamber of Commerce, and James Nicoll, representing the shipyard workers, will leave the city on Friday. Mayor Daggett, who has been at Oualicum Beach attending the conference Of the Union of B.C. Municipali ties, will meet the other two delegates in Jasper on Sunday. Funds being collected from businessmen and unions will be used to pay the expenses of the Chamber of Commerce and shipyard -workers delegates, the city council having underwritten the expenses of Mayor Dag gett. So far, about $900 has been collected, Mr. Thain said. In case the total collections do not cover the cost of the other two delegates, the cltv will make up the balance as its con tribution to the project, the city council has decided. 'The response has been very good in most cases I am told." Mr. Thain said. "One pair of canvassers got a $25 check from 11 out of 12 places at which thev called." The city's brief will be con cerned mainly with ironing out the problems of utilities and pub lic services which were complicated by the posting of thousands 6f troops here during the war.
