CANADIAN NAVY IS SELLING SHIPS MONTREAL, Oct. 18 Eight destroyers, one minesweeper and one frigate, all of which saw service with the Canadian iNavy during the war, are headed for the scrap head. This week the 10 craft are offered for sale for scrapping purposes by War Assets Corporation. The destroyers Included two old four-stacker craft obtained from the United States early in the war and named H.M.C.S. Niagara and Columbia. The others are river class destroyers. H.M.C.S. Saguenay, Kootenay, Ottawa, Restigouche, St. Laurent and Saskatchewan. The Saguenay Is badly damaged, seme forty feet of her stern being, missing.
