Essington PORT ESSINGION (Special) Pupils of the Port Essington public school presented an entertaining Christmas concert Saturday night in the Port Essington Band Hall which was kindly given for that purpose bj the band. The program was dir ected by Miss Elsie Gaska, the teacher, and was enjoyed by p. large audience. It is a day they have looked forward to for many years, but for thousands of them it won't be a real Christmas. They will be spending it in one room. They will be eating Christmas dinner in restaurants. It will not be the Christmas they expected. You Canadians who have unused space in your homes, however, can help. You can make this unused space available to a veteran. You can provide them with a place where they can be together with their wives and their children. Accommodation for five months or less would sec many veterans over the winter period and would give them an opportunity to find more permanent accommodation. There is provision also under which a large portion of the money received for rent of rooms can be exempt from income tax if the revenue is designated as the income of the wife or blood relative. Two-thirds of this income may be deducted as expense. Canada's veterans need accommodation and need it badly in every section of the Dominion.
