' Damage estimated at $2000 was done by fire on Sunday morning to St. Peter's Anglican rimreh nt. the native vlllaee of iKItkatla, down the coast.from here, according to word received in the city today. Fire damage was largely confined to Ihe basement although some flames seeped throush to the church auditorium which suffered more from the effects of smoke and water. The fire broke out about 9:30 after a youth, Johnson Gordon, had Ut the hot air furnace which heats the church. Gordon had gone home to change and, on returning, say flames l?:uing from the basement windows. He immediately raised the alarm and a large nroporthn of the village, population was soon out fighting fire first with water buckets and then with the village fire piimp. The efforts proved successful In saving the building and church service was held as usual.
