A good sized crowd saw the game. Among spectators were quite a number of tourists and visitors from Prince Rupert. The weather the past week has beea all that could be de sired. Visitors from Prince Ru pert are delighted with the sere nlty and change of scene which Terrace has to offer and not a few are talking about establish ing in town for their convent ence. Miss Johanne Kofold left for Prince Rupert last week to holi day with friends. Mrs. Houghton left Saturday morning for Vancouver where she will visit relatives. Mrs. J. Garon returned to Prince Rupert Sunday evening after visiting her son in Terrace. She took little Sandy Le-Ross who will visit his grandparents in Rupert. Miss Sheila McKenney from Prince George, arrived last week to visit with the Hipp family. Mrs. O'Flynn and daughter, Norah, of Vancouver, and Mrs. Sarazen of Tacoma, arrived in Terrace Friday evening to visit with friends. Miss Estelle Johnston return ed to Terrace from Smlthers last week. The servicemen are gradually returning home. Among the late arrivals are Flying Officer J. Seaton who saw two years of active service, and now has his discharge, and Harold Whalen, who was with the Tank Corps and will leave for the Pacific when his thirty-day leave is over. Alfred Timms, Jack Kirkaldy and Les. Crumb are also home. Mr. and Mrs. Carlston from Kitwanga motored to Terrace this week to visit friends. Mrs. Conture and Mrs. Wagner from Prince Rupert are holidaying in Terrace. They have rented one of B. Colbachini's little houses. about twenty and all spent a pleasant evening. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klrby at her mother's home on July 30. Mr. and Mrs. J. Longworth of Victoria are on holidays with their daughter, Mrs. Floyd Frank, at the farm. Mr. and Mrs. Pierce of Prince Rupert motored to Terrace over the week-end. On Sunday morning at Sacred Heart Church thirteen little children made their first communion. Three little girls looked very sweet in white dresses and veils. The choir song, "Jesus, Thou Art Coming." Communicants were Bobby and Jimmy Christie, Pierre Normandeau, Paul and David Johnston, Edward Bissonnette, Raymond Se-cora, Victor Prestie, Betty Jean Kofold, Cecile McConnell and the little Ralston girl. A dance was held in the I.O. D.E. Hall Friday evening, sponsored by the Terrace baseball team. There was a larce atten dance and all had a good time. Miss Alice Riley Terrace Honoree TERRACE, Aug. 7 A shower was held recently at the home of Miss Adela Haugland in honor of Miss Alice Riley. The day being beautiful, the guests gathered on the lawn to view the many lovely gifts which were present ed in a basket very tastefully decorated in pink and white. (186) MARRIAGE OF TERRACE COUPLE TERRACE, Aug. 7 The wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Lofendo last Friday of their daughter, Edith, to William Trellenberg. Rev. T. C. Colwell officiated at the ceremony which took place at 3:30 pjn. The bride was charming in a long dress of white satin with veil and coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of pink roses clustered and baby's breath. The bride's sister, Mrs. E. Turner, was matron of honor, being attired in a long dress of yellow crepe with net insertion at bodice. Little Shirley Cole acted as flower girl, looking very sweet in pink with a big bow atrop her head. H. Smith was groomsman. A reception was held after the ceremony, the members of the family all being present; also Mr. Colwell. The young couple will be going to Vancouver for their honeymoon and will make their home in the Sundal apartments on their return. The bride has lived in Terrace for a number of years and is well known. The groom Is employed by Little, Haugland and Kerr. Local Dry Dock Committee Will Meet Next Week It Is the Intention to call a meeting next week of the local Joint committee for the promot ing of continued activity at the local dry dock. This was 'announced at the meeting of the city council last night by Mayor Daggett after Aid. T. B. Haegg won the two-mile distance in two minutes and six-tenths seconds to establish a new British record. Haegg's world record two-mile time is eight minutes, forty-two and eight-tenths seconds. Andersson galloped out his mile trick in four minutes, eight and eight-tenths seconds, Andersson's best time for the mile in four minutes, one and six- tenths second while Haegg holds the world mark at two-tenths of a second faster than that.
