I ( Total 'membership was recorded at nearly 35,000, there being 950 chapters. (Five of these are in Prince Rupert). This included prpvi-sion of milk and hot ranches to schools and families, fresh air camps, recreation tacmnes, upkeep of clinics, sanatoria an-i hospital assistance. Over $6,000 was spent in assist -iny the Sea Cadets and in Girl Guide work as well as organizing Junior chapters, (The Galloway Rapids Chapter in Prince Rupert received its charter last year.) Ex-service personnel and their fa-nflies were given special attention. Hospital visiting and accompanying treats for patients assumed large proportions: By their care of soldiers' plots in cemeteries, the memory of "servicemen is kept ereen by the rh.fer?. Ornv.-s of men whose families live far away receive ex tra "attention. nKBHEMUEBmfRRHK HEKBI3BBI Four hundred and thirty stud ents were the recipients of bur saries, scholarships, and other monetary assistance. Many ' adopted schools were given libraries, magazine subscriptions, radios, flags and school prizes. Many chapters assisted In war savings stamp drives and .Victory Bond sales. Money was raised for service libraries to the amount of $300,000. (Prince Rupert contributed well over $1000 during the recent drive here). All contributions to the National Service Libraries Fund are used to buy books, playing cards, games, records, etc. for the armed forces and military hospitals. Wartime hospitality during the year was widely, practised. Thousands of servicemen were entertained In homes of members of the order, also in I.OD.E. canteens. Many members helped in other service centres and a number of distinguished visitors to Canada were entertained. A special welcome was accorded war brides and help was offered when needed. HOLDS FINAL RALLY About 250 people faced wet, blustery weather to attend a final C.C.F. election rally In the Capitol Theatre last night where Candidate Harry Archibald, supported by Herbert Garcrave. M.L.A. (Mackenzie), made a final appeal to Skeena voters. The audience was comrjosed almost wholly of C.C.F. supporters and responded to the speakers with intermittent applause.
