Sunday, being a particularly warm bright day, saw considerable activity in the vicinity of the old hotel. Some people were swimming, others boating and still others were lying on the beach sunning themselves. Along the lake shore boats were being fixed and painted and a number of people were busy fixing their summer cottages. A few fishermen were also in evidence and one individual In particular had been abundantly rewarded for his efforts. Weather Is getting hot. The river Is running high. This is causing some apprehension among people living near the Skeena who remember the des tructive freshet which ran amock in 1936. In that year the record-breaking floor was caused by a combination of factors. The hot weather came two weeks early. It followed a week of very heavy rains and the preceding winter had coated all the coun try with a heavy mantle of snow. This year the hot weather two weeks early and It follows upon several weeks of chilly days with some occasional frosts. Otherwise the weather Is ideal for those crops in which Tcr race takes its greatest pride-apples, cherries, small fruits. All are looking exceedingly well this .time. The Skeena Motor Transport, which has been closed for alterations since Tuesday, was reopened. The interior has been completely re-palntcd and a number of changes have been made. Terrace Hospital- MOVE IT TO LAKELSE LAKE Various Suggestions for Future Of Presently Abandoned Institution Many suggestions ore being heard as to the disposition of the fine military hospital which was established by the Canadian Army at Terrace and which has now been abandoned for the time being at least. One of the newest suggestions has been put forward by J. E. Boddie of Prince Rupert whose Idea is that the buildings should be removed from their present location on the bench back of Terrace to beautiful and health- giving Lakelse Lake hot springs. There could thus be established a fine sanitarium with the possi bility of also meeting local hospi tal needs of that part of the dis trict. The Terrace Board of Trade has already communicated with the federal government propos ing that the hospital be taken over as a military hospital with one portion set aside' for local civilian use. A proposal emanating; from the recent Associated Boards of Trade convention at Vanderhoof was that both Terrace and Prince George hospitals be turned over to the provincial government.
