SHORT SPORT Britain's leading Jockeys, such as 40-year olii Cordon Richards and his younger contemporary Harry. Wragg, have long been thought of as national assets. But until now no one considered them as "articles for export." Briefly there ,1s a movement to ship some leading riders to Sweden to boost British bloodstock, one of the countries greatest commodities. Not only would they show their prowess-in the saddle, but would act as propaganda agents and explain why British thoroughbreds are the best in the world. It all revolves around business of course. The more race horses Britain can sell Sweden, the easier it will be for Britain to pay for goods, such as timber, wanted from Sweden. The Jockeys will b3 racing and talking to help re-establish Britain's foreign trade. Arrangements are preliminary but the riders, including Gordon and Harry, are willing to go. And turf followers need not worry because all the Jockeys would return after the good-will mission was completed. Lord Fitzwllliam, one of the stud owners interested in the scheme, told the press that final arrangements have not been completed but that it would be "a semi-private affair and the government will come into it."
