They will also attend the Minneapolis Millers' Training Camp which opens next month. The Winnipeg paper says that those who are deemed ready for professional hockey will be offered contracts by the Millers and, while playing pro hockey, will continue to attend university. Those who do not make the grade, or who do not wish to turn pro will also continue at Minnesota and nrobablv will turn out with the University hockey tearr. j , LOOKING OVER BALL LEAGUES The Chicago Cubs onened the! door to the National League throne yesterday as they finally broke the St. Louis Jinx to beatj the Cardinals 6-5 in the first of two crucial games. The win i puts the Cubs two and one half games ahead of the Cards. Chicago has six more games to play and St. Louis five. Four wins out of those half dozen Chicago tilts would clinch the title for the Cubs. There was only one other National League game played. New York takins a 7-4 trimming at the hands of Brooklyn. In the American League the climatic game between Detroit and Cleveland was rained out. The St. Louis Browns took a 5-1 win from Chicago White Sox in the lone American League game played. The opening game of the International League play-off final series, between Montreal and Newark, was also rained out for the second night running. These leaders will become the Instructors of a wide variety of gym classes planned for the winter season. Tnese classes will.lnclude men and women, boys and girls. Beginning Monday, the leaders classes for women will be held as follows: Monday, October 17 to 8 p.m. at I.O.D.E. Hall, Friday, October 5 7 to 8 p.m. at I.O.D.E. Hall. Saturday, October 62 to 3:30 p.m. at the YjM.CA. Fifteen young women have attended the two leaders classes held during the past week. In view of their keenness and ability, it has been decided to close this class to further members. By. restricting the number In the class, each prospective Instructress will receive more specialized training. These trainees will be taught to conduct open classes for girls and women. These open gym classes will be arranged In the following age groups: Junior girls, 6 to 12 years. Intermediate girls, 12 to 16 years. Women's gymnastic classes, over 16 years. Women's keep fit classes, over 16 years. In spite of the fact that the leaders class has been closed any person who has had previous experience in .gymnastics will be welcomed.
