Baseball As Usual In 1945, Announced NEW YORK, Feb. 5 Major baseball leagues will operate as usual this year,, it is announced by National and American League officials. Sport Chat The Inter-4crvicc Floor Hockey League got away to a bang-up start Friday night as the Navy dropped a very fast, close checking game to a coast regiment team 1-0. Col. C. C. Ferrie E. D. officially opened the newly formed league as he faced off the puck. From there on there were thrills and spills such as no doubt will make this one of the most popular sports in the area. The score indicates how closely matched these two teams arc. It was anybody's game until the final whistle. The only goal in the game was scored on a bril llant effort by Simmons after a dash down the full length of the floor. Many times the Navy was robbed of sure goals by the stellar work of Puznlckl In the Army net. They were in on him time after time only to be turned aside. He seemed to be in the right place at the right time, on one occasion especially when Turcot of the Navy broke through with nobody between him and the goal only to be outguessed. Many penalties were handed out by the .referees as the boys forget once in a while during the heat of battle that they cannot try to body a man through a six-inch wall or try to break their stick over the not-too-well protected legs of their opponents. At one point in the game when three of the more husky boys happened tlo end up against a door that wasn't so strongly secured they found themselves, much to the amusement of the j spectators, being picked out of the muskeg by their teammates. It all added up to make this oneninf? game a thriller from start to finish and if future con tests can be Judged hy the play Friday night the fans are in for plenty of good entertainment. Line-ups: Navy Dennles (goal), Astle, Mercer, Trann, Gill, Turcot, French, Burnett, Owen, Perry, McKinncn. Army Puznlckl (goal), Hawkes, Henderson, D u g g a n, Gurskl. Lcask, Snurc, Warln Carlos, Sims, Morris, Nymchuk. Simmons. Referees Russell and Church. SMALLEST SHIP?
