A happy appointment appears to have been made for the new Roman Catholic Bishop of Prince Rupert in the person of Rev. Anthony Jordan, O.M.I -formerly one of Vancouver's best known pastors, now in Ottawa. Succeeding the late Bishop Emil Bunoz, O.M.I., who died June 3, Bishop-Designate Jordan has the ad Business and Professional (Under New Management) GUNN'S BICYCLE SHOP SERVICING, SALES AND RENTING GADGET REPAIRS, ETC. 214 Sixth Street (Next to Jones' Newstand) vantage of comparative youth for he is only forty-three years of sge. Nor does his youth imply lack of administrative experience since, after leaving Vancouver, he has for the past four years been head of the Holy Rosary Scholisticate in the Oblate Seminary at Ottawa. In Vancouver, where he spent ten years he was not only in charge of St. Augustine's Parish but was treasurer of the province of English-speaking Oblate Fathers in Canada. Born in Edinburgh and coming to Canada as a youth to be educated at Edmonton, he is fully English-speaking and that should be an advantage in a diocese such as this. It is expected the nev Bishop will be coming to Vancouver soon and thence to this city to assume his ecclesiastical seat. One of the most brilliant mathematicians of all time, he discovered the binomial theorem and the elements of the differential and integral calculus, lie studied the heavens, carried on experiments in optics and color, and built a reflector telescope. Observing an apple fall from a tree in his mother's garden, he began to ponder on the attraction of mass to mass, and so evolved the theory that the law of gravity governs the whole universe. Just as a falling apple suggested to Newton a line of research wliicli had. far-reaching results, so such things as a broken gear, a worn-out grinding plate or a burnt-out heating clement have started industrial scientists on researches which have saved thousands of dollars to users of a great variety of products. Research on Nickel has helped industry in scores of ways to save money by using Nickel and its alloys. That meant more Nickel could be produced and sold from Canadian mines. Now, as after the first World War, International Nickel is continuing to co-operate in research in order to find new uses and markets for Canadian Nickel. The information collected by International Nickel from the" whole field of metal research is available at all times to Canadian engineers, designers and metallurgists. j Thus will science and industry, working together, build a wider use of Canadian Nickel so that still more benefits will come to Canada. aGU RESEARCH (ft NICKEL ALLOYS THE INTERNATIONAL.
