Harvey named Progressive Conservative candi' date for Skeena hi the forthcom ing .federal election, was born In Cranbrook on January 25, 1907, Now serving overseas with the Canadian Army, Major Harvey Is attached to Canadian General Headquarters. In civil life he is lawyer in Prince Rupert, of the firm of Brown & Harvey. At two years of age, Harvey's parents moved to Vancouver His father, J. A. Harvey, of the law firm of Taylor Harvey, died in 1918. After studying law for five years "Jim" Harvey was articled to B6b Smith (at Vancouver city hall) and after being called to the bar. Joined the law office of Alex Young in Prince George In October, 1929. In March, 1930 he opened his own law office In Smlthcrs and moved to Prince Rupert In 1931 where he and T. W. Brown bought out the firm of Williams Si Manson. Harvey was called for service on the outbreak of war. Previous to this he had been a member of the mllltla. Following service with the coast defence for a year and a half, he was sent to Nah-almo as staff captain In the Fifth Infantry Brigade, then to Niagara Falls and Debcrt. There followed a term as Secretary of the Selection Board in Ottawa, after which he was sent to Kingston for the Junior War Staff Course where he ranked second. He Tvcnt overseas two years ago this month (February. 1945). Major Harvey was given a further staff course In Indon. then served on the staff of various units and, since early September, has been In France and Bel-glum. It is understood one of Major Harvey's responsibilities is estimating reinforcement requirements for the Canadian Army. Major Harvey's wife and three children, Peter.
