Gives Farewell Talk at Gyro Luncheon "He may have been going home and he may have been happy about that but there has not been an American soldier who served at Prince Rupert for any length of 'time -who did not leave with a tear in his eye and a pang in his heart for, due to the kindness and hospitality which they received here, they formed pleasant associations and will have happy memories which will urge them to come back some day," Frank Finnerty, who will be closing up the United Set-vices Organization at Prince Rupert in a few days now, told the Prince Rupert Gyro Club in a farewell talk at luncheon yesterday. "As for the U. S.O. I think we came a long way since that cold winter morning nearly three years ago when I arrived on a late train in a blackout and stumbled up to the camp at Acropolis Hill, feeling that here was desolation indeed and very much like heading back home on the next rtain. But we found Prince Rupert to be a very pleasant place and from here we shall all take beautiful memories." Mr. Finnerty recounted some of his experiences In UJ3.0. work after opening on an interesting vein. He singled out as the most important institution of all U. S.O. work here the snack bar. There was something phoyscho logical about that. Good food is the greatest ice breaker in the world. The hamburgers ,brou.ght the boys to us and .then -they stayed to see the movies, write letters and spend their evenings in healthful and agreeable sur roundings instead of in the bar racks or possibly less desirable places. Mr, Finnerty leaves here soon Modem Etiquette By ROBERTA LEE Q. Isn't it rude, when attend ing some public performance, for one to make witty remarks for the amusement of those around one? A.
