Our causes was not this nation's only, not this Empire's and this Commonwealth's only but that of every land where freedom Is cherished and where law and liberty go hand In hand. In our darkest hours we knew that the oppressed people of Europe looked to us. Their hopes were our nopes. Tncir commence confirms our faith. "They knew that if we failed, the last barriers against world wide tyranny would have fallen in ruins. But we did not fall. We kept faith with ourselves and one another and unity with our great allies, which carried us to victory through dangers which seemed at times so overwhelming. "So let us resolve to bring to the tasks which lie ahead the same confidence In our mission. Much hard work awaits us both in the restoration of our own country and In help-Ins to bring peace and sanity to a shattered world. This comes" at a time when we have given of our best, after heart and brain, nerve and muscle are directed at the overthrow of Nazi tyranny. Now we turn, fortified by our success to deal with the last remaining foe. "The Queen and I know the ordeals you have endured throughout the Commonwealth and Empire. We are proud to have shared some of these ordeals with you and know that together we shall all face the future with stern resolve and prove that our reserves of willpower and vitality are inexhaustible. "The days of darkness and danger for our children are over, please God, forever. We shall have failed those who died and their blood will have flown In vain If the struggle docs not lead to a lasting peace founded on justice and goodwill. "Then let us take up our work again and resolve as a people to do nothing unworthy of those who died to make such a world as they would have desired for their children and ours. This is the task to which honor now binds us. "In danger we committed our faith into the hands of God and Chontecler Professional FRENCH TUITION Special tuition In the French language in preparation for summer examinations. Business men from this community who attended the Vanderhoof convention were pleased with the spirit of good fellowship that premeated the entire proceedings and the understanding each delegate had for the others. .Enthusiasm of Prince Rupert delegates for the laying of plans toward a North and Central B.C. prosperity program did much toward making the convention a success. Prince George business men are hopeful that out of the Vanderhoof gathering will come a strong enough force to shatter for all time the walls of provincialism that have existed between communities along the C.N.R. line walls of mistrust and jealousy that have tended to retard development and greater prosperity for the entire country. The largest drama and music festival in the province, with some 600 competitors, was held Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Prince George. Standard of talent shown by the school children and adults brought praise from Major L. Bullock . Webster, Victoria, Department of Education, Adjudicator of the Drama, and Mrs. Florence Gupn, Victoria, who judged the- music section, praised the first annual drama and music festival to be held in Prince George. Prince Rupert delegates to Vanderhoof convention, who paid a side call to Prince George after the session Friday evening, found themselves dwelling on possibility of Prince . Rupert He has been our strength and our salvation. Let us thank God for His mercies and In Jhe hour of Victory commit ourselves and our new task to theu!dance of the same strong hand."
