He particularly mentioned the Invaluable work done among the prisoners of war on all war fronts. Dr. Mathews counts among his personal friends many famous men who are "Y" leaders in their own countries. One of these is T. Z. Koo, Chinese leader who escaped from Hong Kong and Shanghai, went on foot to China, by aeroplane to America, attended the conference at San Francisco and Is at present in New York at a meeting of Christian leaders. In his escape T. Z. Koo was aided by another great "Y" man whose name for security reasons must at the present re main unpublished. He is a Japanese, a leader of youth who car ries on his work today by such aid, although his country is at war against all the things that he as a Christian leader believes in. Also at New York is another friend of Dr. Mathews, an In dian delegate named RalllaRam. The headquarters of this inter national Christian body has been made in Canada at Toronto with Robert Mackle in charge. Capt. W. Club on Monday afternoon when scores of Prince Rupert citizens attended an afternoon musicale and reception at the American servicemen's club, enjoying the hospitality and entertainment provided by Directors Frank Finnerty, Eva Lapierre, Bob Herrick and their staff. Tea was served In the main lounge, the table being presided over by two Jocal ladies, Mrs. H. M. Daggett, wife .of the mayor, and Mrs. D. C. Stuart, president of Municipal Chapter, I.O.D.E. Serviteurs were the Misses Helen Lakle, Marie Lock, Emma Doris Edinger and Geraldine Brulte. Set in a corner of the lounge, the table was covered with a white lace cloth and was charmingly decorated with tapers and flowers. The musical program, held in the ballroom, was brief and. varied. Composed of piano, and vocal solos by several entertainers and directed by Miss La Pierre, tt- was well received by the audience, many of the entertainers being called back to the stage. The program was announced by Assistant Director Bob Herrick, who was himself a musical contributor. The program consisted of a pianoforte tone-poem, "Moonshine," played by Miss Rita Meade, followed by a colorful number, "Bluette." Always popular among local musical audiences, tenor Sgt. Harry Nor-mann sane a negro spiritual. "Sweet Little Jesus Boy." Highly pleasing to the audience were two solors by soprano vocalist Miss Dorothy Zak, who sang "The Rosary" and "My Hero." A pianoforte medley of lighter tunes by Corp. Dave Dysert was well received, and the final num-bert, a bass rendition of "Old Man River" by Bcfo Herrick, brought a storm of applause.
