Game Warden Edward Martin is expected to return today from a three-weeks tour of the coastal district which took him as far south as Ocean Falls In his boat P.M.L. 4. Rough weather and the lateness of the season has brought a slop to all deep sea fishing out of this port. For the last few weeks three or four local vessels have been bringing in a few trips of flatfish, but this week, with no draggers out, no flatfish were brought here. Salmon and halibut fishing, of course, clefsed several weeks ago. Landsmen who jook at Prince Rupert's calm harbor and scoff at gale warnings published almost dally for this coastal area should have a quiet talk with fishermen .to ieam that a whip-tailed gale can be howling In Hecate Straits while it Is comparatively calm only a few miles away in Prince Rupert. Charlie Hann is rebuilding the 100 h.p. Fairbanks-Morse diesel In his dragger Zenardi in preparation for resuming flatfish operations early In the new year. Although Prince Rupert has every reason to complain that its capacious grain elevator Is not more freely used for deep sea grain loading, It can find some consolation in the fact that during October, when two vessels were loaded here, Prince Rupert cleared more grain than New Westminster. Total grain taken from Prince Rupert In October was 655,293 bushels, while New Westminster's1 was 181,066. Prince Rupert shipments for October include only the cargoes of the British ship Samarkand and the Russian vessel FUNERAL OF JOHN DEANE Final Rites of John Deane of Port Simpson The funeral of the late R. C. Deane was held Friday from Grenville Court Chapel of the B.C. Undertakers. Rev. Canon W. F. Rushbrobk conducted the service which was attended by many friends. Foreman, N. Bellis, T. Bjornson and T. H. Sorensen. Those sending floral tributes were: His loving wife, Miria, Wilf and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. King and Winnie, The Family, Mr. and Mrs. j, R. To the end of October the port of Victoria had loaded grain cargoes totalling 865,295 bushels. Coming north from Vancouver with his newly purchased power cruiser Fusilier, Dr. R. G. Large was at Namu when last reported and should be arriving home over the coming week-end. Accompanying him are Dr. J. P. Cade and Tom Wllfold.
