Commons

telegraphic
communications

racing

strengthening

sections

Criminal
Code
dealing

bookmaking.

announcing
this,
Attorney-General
Maltland
of
British
Columbia
said
in
Ottawa
Thursday
night
that
he
has
talked
over
the
proposed
bill
with
Justice
minister
Saint
Laurent
and
h'as
been
told
it
likely
will
not
be
possible
to
submit
It
at
the
present
session..Mr.
Maitland
recalled
that,
following
representations
by
the
government
of
British
Columbia,
a
bill
had
been
passed
in
the
Commons
two
years
ago.
But
this
was
set
aside
in
the
Senate.
He
said
the
new
bill
is
along
similar
lines
and
mainly
will
make
bookmaking
convictions
easier
by
strengthening
applicable
sections
of
the
Criminal
Code.
