VILLAGERS OF METLAKATLA ENJOY CONCERT METLAKATLA (Special) Enjoyment of both the performers and the audience at the Metla-katla school Christmas concert was enhanced by the use of a public address system in the community hall. The concert was directed by Miss L. G. Whliart, teacher of the Metlakatla school, with Chief Councillor Cecil Ryan as master of ceremonies. Heavily laden with toy.s-for all the village children, the Christmas tree was conspicuous in a corner of the hall and, following" the program, Santa Claus stepped up to the microphone and called the children to receive their presents. The pres ents were donated toy the Metla katla village council. Judged by audience response, the outstanding feature of the program was the singing of "Silent Night" by the children during which they hummed the hymn as background while little Lorraine Ryan stepped to the microphone and recited verses of the Scriptures appropriate to the occasion. Other features were tap dancing by a group of eight girls, a march drill, a 'boys' vocal trio with one .playing an instrumental accompaniment, and a girls' duet. At the conclusion of the program the audience heartily endorsed a vote of thanks to Miss Wlshart. proposed by Chief Councillor Ryan. y y y y Announcements All advertisement -n ttils column wUl to charged lor a full month at 25c a word.
