BORDEN STREET SCHOOL P.-T.A. .Monthly .Meeting Hears Reports 1'n terlaiiinif nt Program - Reports presented at the Bor den Street Parent-Teachers' As sociatlon session last evening, with the president, Mrs. George Hcwc, In the chair and a .good numlbcr of mcartbers present, showed that the recent rum mage sale had been most sue c'cssful and a vote of thanks was accorded those responsible for its organization and gratifyin results. The money was then made available to the principal for school purposes. Resolutions for tho annual convention cf the Parent Teach er Federation were considered Entertainment was provided by Mrs. A. T. Lashnw, whose rendering of two vocal solos dc lighted the listeners. Mrs. V Seaman was accompanist. A discussion on pupils report cards was lead by Principal J 5. Wilson. He discussed what should be expected in a report card. The Ideal situation would be a continuous contact between the parents, teachers and children to ensure that the pupils were working lo the best of their capacity. The old report cards which Indicated what each pupil's marks were told only part of the story and very' often gave entirely wrong Impressions, said the speaker. The new report cards indicated the considered judgment of the teacher on the pupil's accomplishments In tire light cf his powers. Moreover, the new card was far more comprehensive and gave a fuller and truer picture of the child's progress towards becoming a useful citizen. The discussion showed that some parents felt that the former type of card had definite advantages and the ensuing exchange of views proved interesting and helpful. .Refreshments were served by a ccmmlttcc with Mrs. W. L. Ltncham and Mrs. W. McLcod in charge. BAHLY GOVERNMENT Hie first systematic effort to .slablhh an organized government in Brazil was made in 1532.
