Thorne, for many years running on Canadian National Railways out of Prince Ru pert and for some time more recently from Winnipeg, retired April 23 after twenty-nine years' service with the railway. As Mr. Thorne stepped from the train at the Union Depot at Winnipeg he was greeted by officials of the company and a host of friends and relatives to congratulate him on his long and faithful service and to wish him good health, luck and long years of leisure. Later a very enjoyable evening was spent at the home of Mr. Thome's two daughters, Mrs, Dan Cory and Mrs. Don Thompson, 111 Lewis Street. Mr. Thome was born at Scar-boro, Ont., in 1882, comlnjr west in 1905 and going to Reve!stoke, where he hired as a cook in a logging camp on the Arrow Lakes.
