The old squirming game hasn't changed a bit since we saw it last. The crowd got their dollar's worth and the Civic Centre picked up a couple of hundred. It was a good show, too, awl wc can take another quite MMIIl. It was a good thing George Ilowc saved his shirt. After all, they are hard to get these days. The shoe he threw away after the rope tussle with Jack did not matter. No matter how you look at it the gladiators earned their lough. As for us, we will be glad to go on' just humbly, writing it up. We were glad when it was over that one of them had not dropped in our lap. Yes, modern wrestling is a great game. Maybe not as serious as Oracco-Koman but a lot more fun. The preliminary boys were crowd winners. Jimmy Nfcoll and his Legion Club are bringing up a likely looking bunch of lads. They have fighting hearts ami how! Referee George Howe survived. Such types of skullduggery as hair pulling, knuckling - the - spine and rabbit punching, al though discouraged by Referee Howe, were in constant practice although both "The Cat" and 180 -pound Pearson lamented bitterly 'vhen the other resort ed to such unsportsmanlike tac tics. As a reward for his solicitude, Referee Howe found himself I lifted bodily and placed outside the ring by Pearson who, witn Howe In his arms, was himscl: pushed over the ropqs by McLaughlin in a fifth - round scramble. Pearson won the first fall in the third round, after an informal acquaintance period in which he and McLaughlin had Indulged in such gambols as using their knees on the other's chin and midriff and tossing each other out of the ring. McLaughlin, however, reclaimed his hold on things by winning the second fall in the fourth round. Undoubtedly "The Cat" felt more in balance after his second had removed an assortment of scrap iron from McLaughlin's right shoe. Pearson probably appreciated it, too. Referee Howe's insistance that there should be some restraint, even in mayhem, earned him the resentment of McLaughlin early in the show. "The Cat" made a ju-ju by-pass at the persevering referee which .resulted in him being reprimanded by Mr. Howe. Thereafter, Referee Howe be came almost as much a part of the bout as the two fighters. lie defended himself skilfully.
