This evens the Senior "B" ifinals up with each club having one win to their credit. Slatta was the hero of the evening for Co-op when In the last two seconds, with his squad riown one point, he dropped in a charity toss which tied toe. game up at 31-31, forcing the "match into overtime which saw the lads from the waterfront move quickly into the lead. This was more of a battle than their last thrilling match but this time the tables were turned. Macey's had copped the first game by their prowess on the free throw lane but last night Co-cp had their turn for sinking the gift shots. Right Ircm the start it was apparent that it was to be a battle to the finish. Fouls were dished out right and left but still the close checking kept up. Everyone was keyed up to a high pit chlwith Co-op trying desperately to stretch the series to .three games and Macey's want-in to wind things up In short order. The scoring was very low throughout the firsf half with Co-op having the lead C-4 at the end of the first quarter. Macey's fought hard through the second stanza and tied it all up at 13-13 : by the time the first half rest i had rolled around. I n.ti-pnnHn.,H-f h - fhro. - I quarter mark with the scoring standing at 19-19. Then the whirlwind last period got under way apd the strain began to show,. Fouls came faster and faster which paid off for the Coap, With the scoring stand-Ins at 29-26 Jor the uptown lads, Menzles. made the margin move up another two points to 31-26. Clccone, for the fishmen, broke loose and dropped in two loopers almost Xrom centre to put the Co-bp back Into the battle again. With, just two seconds to go, Slatta was fouled and the pres sure was really on. The crowd was in aa uproar but Slatta camt' through and converted the charity toss and the game was all even. Macey's went into the overtime without their lofty bucket man, Gill, who had been banished on live personals during the last frame and his absence was felt as Co-op -whipped four quick shots through the net to give them s. comfortable lead. Co-op's upset makes the series stretch to three games and the last and most crucial .battle will be featured on Thursday night In the Civic Centre. Following their battle the presentation of cups and trophies will be made to all the league winners. A collection -wll be taken which thn Civic Centre is turning over to Hie Basketball Association for llje bensfit of fhose players who have 'been Injured throughout lle past season. Savoy's Rupert lloiXestad turned in another of his outstanding nights with his 14 hard earned points.
