Box 160 Tea Success Many friends visited the Conrad Street School Saturday afternoon to have lea or purchase homecooking, plants or candies at the Girl Guide Association's ( annual tea. The money raised at this tea will be used towards the Girl Guide summer camp. The hall was simply but tastefully decorated in the Guide and Brownie colors blue, yellow and brown, with here and there a large Guide trefoil. The main tea table, with its' lace cloth and centrepiece, a bowl of blue and yellow flowers flanked with candles and the smaller tea tables around with yellow and blue decorated flower vases all looked very attractive. The Guides and Brownies were there in full uniform which added to the general effect. The Local Association looked after the kitchen while the Guides or the First Prince Rupert Company, did the serving. The Second Prince Rupert Company managed the plant table, the Third Trince Rupert Company, the homecooking and the Brownies of the First Prince Rupert Pack sold candies. Mrs. Basil S. Proctor, Mrs. Brett, Mrs. A. L. Holtby and Mrs. J. B. Gibson presided at the urns. Commissioner Honora L. Sil-versides and Mrs. B. Eyolfson received the guests. It pays to advertise. There was a report on Saturday's tea which ended in a discussion on camD. Week-enrI camps, as well as the possible use or the Kinsmen' Camp at Lakelse were considered. Transportation is a problem when going to Lakelse as the train does not arrive in Terrace until after midnight then there Is a twelve to fourteen mile car ride to the lake. It was decided to have a "Diminishing Tea" to raise funds for a permanent.' local camp site where in future vears both Guides and Brownies could go and enjoy a summer outing. Mrs. Eyolfson will be the first hostess at the "Diminishing Teas." Her eight guests will in turn each be- hostesse to another seven guests and so on until there Is one hostess and one i guest. It Is hoped that no one wnen ner turn comes will break the chain of teas as the local camp will mean a greater opportunity for the girls to enjoy camping out and to receive the training which Guide Camps have to offer to young girls. beach In various ways.
