Guest H. D. Thain acted as judge of the proceedings, with William Long in the capacity of prosecutor. A number of mem-; bers were charged with having failed to pay their dues for the first half of the year. A plea of guilty was made by the majority of defendants who were sentenced to a fine of 15 cents and costs of 18 cents which was their contribution toward payment of Mr. Thain's supper. Of the three members who submitted a plea of not guilty one was acquitted and the other two fined 10 cents and costs. Evidence had been presented by them showing they had paid their dues one day after the deadline stipulated in the charges. William Long and William Noble, who as the entertainment committee, instigated the proceedings, were victims of their own plot when the presiding judge called them to the prisoner's dock and charged them with being late in providing the wherewithal for entertaining the meeting, particularly the guests. During the business meeting President George Dibb reported that the executive, acting as a committee, is organizing a dance which is to bp held in the Civic Centre on December 17. Proceeds from the entertainment will be used to provide a Christmas party for the children on December 21. ' j R. E.
