Two Alaska hunters arrived in the city Thursday night from their honies at Ketchikan .bound for Hazelton where they will spend a few days hunting with Al Benson, interior guide. They were C. A. Zaruba, who describes himself as a "norse trader," and Howard Moore, a plumber. If Ketchikan has any horses to trade it is one up on Princo Rupert. The waterfront this week was exceedingly quiet with very little fish arriving. Some flatfish has been coming in but, on the whole, the fish plants have now far fewer employees than in the summer. Relatively poor hunting was reported by Stewart Donaldson who returned this week from the southern part of Moresby Island where he went two weeks ago after deer. Mr. Donaldson said that he went too late in the sea son to get the best hunting and also that few of the deer were in sight of the beaches, most of them having been driven inshore by the prevalence of fishing boats along that part of the Islands. He hunted just north of Rose Harbor. NEW MARINE DEPT WHARF AT SEAL COVE To accommodate the light house tender vessels of the Department of Transport operating out of Prince Rupert a new wharf at estimated cost of $75,-000 is to be built at Seal Cove whence the marine station was moved during the past year from the old site at Digby Island. The new wharf will angle off from the concrete landing and will have two berths, one on the front of 230 feet length and another inside 130 feet long. Thi wharf head will be 40 feet wide. Creosoted piles will be used and the timber 'will be creosoted throughout Including the decking which will have a surface of tar concrete navlne three inches thick. Tenders for the job will be called shortly, it is announced by C. F. P. Faulkner district engineer for the federal department of public works, who is here at present on official business. Other projects in this area are receiving the attention of Mr. Faulkner while on the present trip.
