Farewells at City Council An exchange of farewells and season's greetings brought an amiable ending to Prince Rupert City Council's 1950 activities at the regular session last night. Mayor George Rudderham .ex tended his thanks to the council for the way they had worked together during the year. He said he appreciated the work of the two retiring members and offered greetings of the season to the whole council. Retiring Aid. W. J. McLean extended his thanks to the council lor their co-operation and assistance during the year and also that of the telephone superintendent. Aid. W. A. McLean also expressed his appreciation to the other aldermen and the mayor for their consideration during the year . Aid. T. B. Black said that, although all December accounts were hot yet in, he was certain the retiring council would be able to turn over a slight surplus to the incoming council. He said that there had been over-expenditures in a.i Departments but that they were more than compensated for by higher returns than estimated from grants received. He thanked committee members for keeping the expenses of their committees low enough that such a surplus was possible. , Aid. George Casey spoke a good word to the outgoing members of the council and told them not to leave in cespalr. "You have many long and useful years ahead," he said. Norwegians-Old, Young Celebrate I In the afternoon about 90 children gathered for the Christ mas Tree party. It all started off with the children marching around the tree singing Christmas carols. They were accompanied by the Misses Sylvia Hel-land and Myrna Knutson at the piano. Then came Santa Claus to spread his bounty and refreshments to end the party. In the evening the grown-ups gathered. They too started' off with a march around the tree, singing carols. They were accompanied by Mike Colussi on the accordion. Sylvia Helland played a piano solo followed by two piano duets my Myrna Knutson and Margaret Olsen, accompanied by Mike Colussi. Sondra Glske and Mr. Colussi then played accordion duets. . . , ,,v .. . Following the party "was a dance that started at 10 pm. and lasted well into the morning. Mike Colussi supplied the music. The skeleton was found Jan. 29, 1947 and was identified as Lord by his landfedy and friends. He didn't know he was officially "dead" until he applied for a government pension. After Lord produced documents and witnesses to prove his identity, the Montreal coroner declared the previous identification of the skeleton in error and sent the case back to the police.
