In the light of what has transpired i the past 25 .years, studying the trend of events today and - pondering the future, it is not extravagant to think that neither country would have far to go. R0RIE Black m P.O CIVIC INTEREST OUR GOOD LADY MAYOR takes exception in a letter to the editor today to a suggestion in an editorial of ours last Aveek that a twenty percent increase in the number of names on the civic voters' list indicates an increased interest in municipal affairs. To the contrary, she suggests a lack of interest through the fact that 'there are fewer registered householders and licence-holders, the increase being due to the large increase in the number of property owners who are automatically registered. One way of looking. at it, Her Worship is, of course, right. However, we might also sug---gest, without ;any intention of prolonging the argu-rr-ment, that to have uch a large increase'in the num-4xr of property owners is a sign of healthy and permanent " interest in the community of responsible persons who have planted their stake here.
