He sald that the 10 p.m. al- lowed teen-agers plenty of time to go home after the “first show”. No curfew signal was to be used as it couldn't be heard all over town and would therefore provide children with an excuse of not hearing it, Magistrate Applewhaite said. He said that the penalty for violating a curfew was set out in the Municipal Act but that a reasonable excuse would be accepted from children ap- proached on the street after 10 p.m. provided it was confirmed by parents. “The children of today are older mentally than their par- ents were at the same age,” Magistrate Applewhaite said. “The proposed curfew can only be effective if given the full support of all parents,” he added.
