First Baptist
“bible school

_. The daily vacation bible school
. that has been held at the First
Baptist church for the past. two| j
- weeks was concluded’ Friday:
with an evening of games and a

. weiner roast for the pupils ‘n
’ the church hall.

The school was held in’ two
- sessions, a class of 30 beginners
and primary children -attended
- every morning under the teach-
ing of Mrs. T. R, Lloyd, Mrs. R.
B.,McDonald and Mrs. Henry
Vanderheide. They were assist-
-ed-by Pamela Painter and Mary
White. Mrs. P. H. Linzey was
the pianist. The small children
“enjoyed a party Friday morning
to conclude their school.

 

 

 

Bride-to-be
honored
at shower

Miss Jeanine Turcotte whose
marriage to Mr. Victor L. Brain
will be an event of August 8,
was feted at a shower at the
home of Mrs. Harvey McMeekin,
909 First Avenue West, on July
26,

On her. arrival the guest of
honor was.presented with a cor-
sage of pink carnations and
seated in a chair canopied with
white and pink streamers and
centered with a white bell.

. Mrs. . Alice. Turcotte, mother
of the bride-to-be and Mrs. Les-
lie Brain, mother of the. groom-
to-be were presented with white
carnations.

Miss Heather MacDonald,
cousin of Mr. Brain, wheeled
in a large variety of gifts to
stock the pantry.in a miniature
grocery wagon. Bridal atten-
dants Mrs. Donald Smith, Miss
Yvonne Smith and Miss. Paul-
ette Turcotte assisted the bride
in opening the gifts.

Mrs. A. G, Brain, grandmother
of the groom, was winner of the
door prize. Other prizes were
won by guests-at bingo games.

Delicous refreshments .were
highlighted by a cake decorated

, with a doll as a miniature bride,
flanked by three miniature at-
tendants moulded in pink spun
sugar.

Mrs. vernon Wiccone, sister
of the groom, presided at the
urns.

Mrs. Elmer Thompson and their
son Douglas arrived beck in
Prince Rupert Monday night by
car to attend the city’s B.C.
Centennial celebrations.

Mr. Thompson was a former
conductor with the Canadian
National Railway having worked

with the railroad from 1914 un-
til 1945 when he retired. Both

Mrs. Thompson, the former Bir-

deH Jack, and son Douglas were
