Jacob Bergen teria is applied to religion it 1s called “heresy.” Heresy is a Greek word and it means “selec- tion,” “choosing.” The “heretic” Sclects from the Bible what he Ukes and leaves or rejects what he does not. His selections arc made either on the basis of his prejudices or on an unwilling- ness to pay the price to which an acceptance of the truth would commit him. Real Bible Christianity means a recogni- tion of the sovereign right of God to determine the contents of our religion. We mention a few of the truths of Christianity which people often reject. Many people {have a prejudice against the idea of*-A completely reliable and authoritative revelation from God. ‘Yet, the Lord Jesus certainly taught that the Bible is a revelation from God and that man, will have to gnswer to Him as to his attitude toward that revelation. Then many reject the real meaning of the Cross. First, as it represents the finished work of Christ, and therefore the neces- ‘sity of complet dependence upon Him for salvation. And secondty, the Cross as the principle by which the Christian life is to be lived. ‘Many people select from the Bible what it has to say about the love of God and about hea- ven, but reject or refuse to take seriously what the same Bible against sin and about a coming judgment. God tells us in Proverbs 22:3 and 27:12; “A prudent man fore- seeth the evil ‘and hideth him- self{:-but the simple (or foolish) pass on and are punished.” Are you among the prudent to the judgment of God MOUNTAIN AREA ayas tower feet. | | 2 Salpeter mine seermnnen earns eee ns sant e o a > eereeey Re mi Ly Aye) 25 Ib. pails oo.
