Registered Nurses asso- ciation holds its annual sow, ‘UNurses Bursary Ball’. Each year the association ‘hopes to realize the sum of $150 ‘which is given in the form of a _bursary to a prospective nursing student from Bcoth Memorial High School at veommencement exercises in June. Preparations are now being made to provide 100 couples with an cvening of enjoyment in a de- cor of autumn colored flowers and candlelight. ‘Buffet supper will be served at midnight and a_ six-piece orchestra will provide music for dancing. The meeting was a dinner meeting with food being pre- pared and served to about 170 Legionairres by members of the Women’s Auxililary. In his introduction of the financial report given by Frank Comadina, president Nicoll stat- ed that a big job was _ being done in the local legion. “I make no hesitation in saying that we have done a good job,” he sald. Mr. Comadina stated that while sales were generally lower than in the past, much better control over financial matters was being exercised than for many years. Since November last, the Legion had contributed $2,205 to charities. Of this to- tal, $765 were realized from the sale of poppies last year. During the meeting, Branch 27, members passed a resolution calling upon Premier Bennett and the government to do “all possible” toward the establish~- ment of a College of Dentistry at the UBC. Forwarding of the resolution to the Provincial Command of the Canadian Leg- ion was endorsed by the as- sembly. It was hoped that aghe command would add its support to that of the branch. In attendance at the meeting was Sydney Kirk, vice-president of the Provincial command, who spoke briefly to the members, He said that in spite of 5.000 new members in the legion dur- ing the past year, the organiza- tion wound up the year with 700 members less that it had started out the year.
