JAI'AMK O VST Mis Oysters from Jspan may be trans planted to the waters of the British Columbia coast If experiments now being carried on In the neighboring state of Washington are successful. Mortality among Eastern oysters transplanted on this coast Is said to have been so great that it has been decided to test Japanese oysters here. The Japanese oysters are reported to be thriving on Puget Sound and It Is believed they will do well In British Columbia waters. Longer tests are wai ted before -any decision Is made, how ever. Objection to the Japanese oysters has been based on their purple shell rim. This does not affect their flavor, how ever, and Is noly noticeable when serv ed on the half shell since the color disappears when cooked.
