Canned wasps were Imported from Japan this year. They were welcomed by the United States department of agriculture, which gave them food and beetle larvae to lay tbetr eggs In. I They are wasps of a variety peculiar to Japan and they prey on an Asiatic beetle which has found Its way Into the United States and destroys crops. They. with some 15.000 potential offspring now hatching In larvae of the Asiatic beetle will be sent to a laboratory at, Rlverton, NJ.. and eventually trans-, ferred to Long Island, where their beetle prey are now preying on crops.
