New Province in North With Prince Rupert as Its Port is Visualized (Continued from Page 1) oped and brought in to its own, if Canada is to be squared out on the Pacific as it should be. then we must have a Portland at Prince Rupert and a Seattle at Stewart with corresponding cities in the interior of Northern British Columbia and Alberta which will never be done by the governments of Alberta and British Columbia, regardless of the color of thetr politics or the stripe of their religion." In making his plea for the n?w province for the northern section of the two western provinces, Mr. Hideout goes at length into the difficulties under which the north labors and the apathy of the governments of each of those provinces in dealing with and developing the north. He sees how other provinces expanded the moment they were formed into separate governmental units. He sees both British Columbia and Alberta top-heavy with huge undeveloped territory in the north and the governmental activities in the south. A strong local government on the ground he sees as the only means of giving these dis tricts a real chance. Mr. Rldeout tells of the hopes of the Peace River settlers and of their difficulties, especially those to the westward In the Peace River block. He declares that the governments of Alberta and B. He tells of the visits of Sir Henry Thornton and others and of what they said and of the later lack of interest and action. He suggests that Sir Henry has fallen asleep and is to be awak ened only by Mr. Beatty rapping at Ms door. He accuses the members representing the north as not being Mlve to the interests of the north but too much intent on supporting Hi mti ii id ri i n i a rat ii r EASTER SPECIALS Rulkley Valley Products Fowl per lb Roasting Chicken per lb Turkeys per lb Local Fresh Eggs nor fin?
