Nov. 20: Several well known mining properties In the Smlthers-Telkwa district are con-! tinulng operations this fall with eminently satisfactory results, these Including the Jessie Gold, Glacier Gulch, Lake Kathlyn Anthracite (coal), Bulkley Valley Coal (cpali and Babine Gold. At the Jessie Oold Mines the 400-foot level is being carried forward us a drift on the No. 1 vein with no' break in the ore to date. The ore- width in the tunnel is greater than at the corresponding point on the surface. This vein has been established In surface workings for 950 feet in length with the best showing at the westerly end about 800 feet In advance of the present face of the tunnel. Douglas Lay, resident mining engineer, examined the Jessie recently. On the Glacier Oulch group Stuart Campbell and associates have got out for shipment a ear-load of hand-sorted gold bismuth ore Improvements have been made to the road and an aerial tram constructed to bring the ore down from the workings to the end of the road. The ore will probably be1 hauled down to the railway at Lake Kathlyn station, only two miles' distant from the mine, and shipped ; during this month. The resident, engineer for the district was at the , property recently. i Lake Kathlyn Anthracite Coal Company Is continuing its exploratory work on 1U property near Lake Kathlyn. The manager states that he hopes to have coal shipment1! made in the near future. Bulkley Valley Coal Mines near Telkwa continues active mining operations and the market for Its coal Is steadily growing. Manager FranW M. Dockrill was in Prince Rupert during the month making arrangements for an increased sale there. The Babine Gold Mines operation of W. R. Wilson ti Sons on Dome Mountain was examined by R. W. Wilson during the month and. on his return to Telkwa. he expressed satisfaction with the progress being made. He was expected to return to the mine within a few days to lay out further work on completion of contracted tunnel work which has been in progress the past two months.
