The Ilome of Good Shoes DAILY EDITION EDITORIAL Proposed Civic Centre ... the sum 01 Iilteen thousand dollars to complete tne sum necessary to pay for a proposed civic centre. It is a considerable sum but the building is badly needed and may well be considered part of our war effort. The city is providing a site, offering freedom from taxation and returning to the Gyro Club the sum of $1,000 loaned to it! during the depression days. As for the site it is really! only an exchange for the site paid for by the Rotary Club so that the city might have the use of $3,000 it had on hand during depression days. That money was earmarked for community centre purpose. The provincial government is giving the committee the services of the provincial architect, which means a great saving to the committees. On the whole an excellent start has been made and the remainder of the money should be forthcoming if a thorough canvass is made. We strongly commend this cause to the people of Prince Rupert and to those who do business in Prince Rupert.
