Commerce Chamber Has 83 Membership Ten new members were gained toy the Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce during the year 1946, it was reported to the Chamber at its annual meeting last night in the report of sec retary-treasurer, E. T. Apple- whaite. Three members of the Chamber were lost by death, three left the district and one retired. The Chamber now has a membership of 83 of which number 79 are active. City Is Seeking Radio telephone City council will ask the Northwest Telephone Co. to maintain the radiotelephone service between Prince Rupert anil Vancouver so that it can be used when the land line is ouj; of order. The radiophone service between the two cities has not been in service since the land line came into service last June. According to information re ceived by City Clerk H. D. Thain from the city telephone department, Vancouver will not accept radiotelephone calls from Prince Rupert, even when the land line is out of order. "There is a definite advantage in having that service," said Alderman T. B. Black, who introduced the subject. The City Clerk was instructed to take the matter up with the Northwest Telephone Co. CAPT. HENRY PREVOST DIES Capt. Henry Prevost, age 781 years, venerable . Metlakatla native, passed away last evening after a lengthy illness. He had been a patient in the Frince Ru pert General Hospital for the past few months. Funeral arrangements will be announced later but will be under the direction of the Salvation Army of which the late Mr. Prevost had been a devoted follower for many years. With the passing of Capt. Pre vost, goes another of the links tying his people with the past, Highly respected by natives and whites alike, Henry Prevost fol lowed the sea, took out his coastal master's papers early in life, arid sailed ships from Al aska to Victoria in the coastal trade. He leaves to mourn his pass ing, his sons James, Allen, and David, and daughters Mrs. Rob ert Nelson, jr., and Mrs. Ter ranee Booth of Alaska and : host of grandchildren.
